ON the day of the King's coronation, we take a look at his country residence in Myddfai.

King Charles III has been calling Llwynywermod estate his home base in Wales since 2006. He -as Prince of Wales – and wife Camilla, the then Duchess of Cornwall, had been looking for a base for their visits to Wales and chose Carmarthenshire as the location due to its quiet nature.

The then-prince made an offer in late 2006 for the estate, which is located around a mile from Myddfai and two miles from Llandovery.

The Duchy of Cornwall bought the 90-acre property for £1.2 million and the first visit by the then-future king was made in the spring of 2007.

The Llwynywermod estate is let out for holidaymakers when the king is not present, which adds more popularity to the local area – which is a popular tourist destination due to its connections with the royal family and the Heart of Wales Railway, as well as the Lady of the Lake tale at nearby Llyn y Fan Fach.

The village – which has a population of around 400 – is also popular due to its location close to fantastic gardens, castles and Bannau Breichiniog.

The king also attends the church of St Michael's and All Angels in Myddfai a handful of times each year and hands out prizes at the village's Christmas fair.
